Illuminated Signs BrisbaneBacklit, Halo-Lit and Front-Lit Signs That Read After Dark

A dark shopfront stops selling the moment the sun goes down.

The short version

Illuminated signs brisbane retailers, restaurants, corporate offices and multi-tenant sites book with ProCloud when the sign needs to read at night, in poor weather, and from further down the street than a printed panel can carry.

We design, fabricate and install the three main formats: backlit light box fascia, halo-lit 3D letters, and front-lit face-illuminated signs. Same in-house crew from artwork through to install.

30 years fitting building signage on Brisbane commercial sites. Same Brendale workshop.

Three illuminated sign formats

Choosing the right format is what makes the sign read from the sight lines that matter and cost sense to run.

Every illuminated signs brisbane job comes down to matching one of three formats to the site, the brand and the running cost:

Backlit boxes are the most cost-effective. Halo-lit is the premium option.

Front-lit sits in between and reads best from distance.

The design mock stage runs a sample of the three on your facade so you can see which reads best before you commit.

Backlit light box. A sealed panel with an internal LED array behind a printed or vinyl face. The full face glows evenly. Great for fascia signs above eye level, drive-past retail and clean-line brand marks.

Halo-lit 3D letters. Individual letters standing off the wall with LED modules pointing back at the facade. The wall glows and the letter face reads dark. The premium look, and the halo lit signs brisbane offices and high-end retail keep asking for.

Front-lit 3D letters. Individual letters with LED modules behind an illuminated face. The letter itself glows. Reads well from long sight lines. Popular for shopping centre fascia and hospitality.

Speccing an illuminated sign

The two things buyers under-spec are the LED module grade and the drainage, and both decide whether the sign lasts 3 years or 10.

Cheap LED modules dim by 30 percent inside two years and start failing individually inside five.

We use commercial-grade LED modules rated for the running hours of a fascia sign, so the sign still reads bright at year 8 without a module swap.

Drainage matters because a Brisbane storm will fill a poorly-drained backlit box with water in one afternoon. We fabricate boxes with drain paths and gasket seals rated for outdoor Queensland conditions.

That is why the boxes we built 10 years ago are still running.

Running cost is smaller than most buyers expect. A modern LED fascia sign at 8 to 12 hours a day costs about the same to run as a couple of household appliances.

Not a barrier for most retail sites.

Why illuminated sign buyers pick us

A ProCloud illuminated sign still reads crisp at year 10 on a Brisbane retail strip, and that comes down to fabrication grade, LED choice and install standard.

Aluminium composite panels are rated for outdoor use. Acrylic faces are UV-stable.

LED modules are commercial retail grade, not consumer strip lighting.

Fasteners and standoffs are sized for the wind loads on the building's facade, especially on shopping centres and standalone pylon installs.

The install crew is in-house. Electrical connection is done on site by licensed sub-contractors we work with regularly, and the sign is commissioned before the crew leaves.

Recent Google reviews cover backlit fascia rebuilds, illuminated shop signs and halo-lit letter installs on corporate offices, plus multi-site retail rollouts across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

The illuminated sign process

Send site photos, the facade dimensions or shopfit drawings, and any existing brand guide. We come back with a design mock across the three illumination formats and a fixed quote inside a week.

Once you sign off, we handle council permit and landlord approval. Fabrication runs at the Brendale workshop.

Install and electrical commissioning are co-ordinated with the site's shopfitter and electrician so the sign lands ready to switch on.

Aftercare is included. If an LED module fails inside the fit-out warranty window, the crew replaces it.

FAQs

Cost depends on the format (backlit box, halo-lit, front-lit), the size of the sign, the LED module grade and the install access. Backlit boxes are the entry level. Halo-lit and large front-lit letter sets sit at the top. Send site photos for a fixed quote.

Backlit means an internal LED array behind a printed or vinyl face, so the whole face glows evenly. Halo-lit means LED modules point back at the wall behind 3D letters, so the wall glows and the letter face reads dark. Backlit is the classic light box. Halo-lit is the premium 3D letter look.

Commercial-grade LED modules used by ProCloud are rated for 50,000 running hours or more. At 8 to 12 hours a day, that is 12 to 15 years before the modules dim to the point of a refresh. Cheaper modules often need a full swap inside 3 to 5 years.

No. A modern LED-lit fascia sign at 8 to 12 hours a day typically costs about the same to run as a couple of household appliances. Not a barrier for most retail or office sites.

Yes. Council permit sits at design stage before fabrication. Electrical connection and commissioning is done by licensed sub-contractors we work with regularly, and every install is signed off before switch-on.

Yes, provided the existing box or letter fabrication is sound. Many older backlit signs across Brisbane are still structurally fine but running dying LED or fluorescent modules. A retrofit is usually a fraction of the cost of a new fabrication and buys another 10 years of life out of the existing sign.
